FELLOWSHIP

We offer fellowship training in General Neurosurgery and Spinal surgery in Windsor Ontario. This fellowship will give an excellent opportunity to enhance clinical experience in all aspects of Neurosurgery including complex spine surgery. The fellowship is affiliated with the University of Western Ontario. The Fellowship program was founded in 2018 by Dr. Elashaal who is the current Fellowship Director.

Our fellowship program is affiliated with the University of Western Ontario. We have 2 fellowships: General Neurosurgery and Complex Spine Fellowship. There is one position per year for each of the fellowships. The fellowship term is typically one year, but can be extended based on the fellow’s career goals. The fellowships are based out of Windsor Regional Hospital. The fellowship educational objectives are in concordance with the objectives for a complex spine surgery fellow developed by the Canadian Spine Society. (Larouche et al. Development of a Competence-Based Spine Surgery Fellowship Curriculum Set of Learning Objectives in Canada. Spine. 2016 Mar;41(6):530-7)

Our fellowship is a busy surgical fellowship, which typically involves 2-3 days/week in the operating room, and exposure to approximately 300 surgical cases per year. Exposure will be gained to the entire spectrum of Neurosurgery and spinal disorders except for pediatric Neurosurgery.

At the successful completion of our fellowship, a fellowship certificate will be granted by the University of Western Ontario.
